Coniston Spa
The project is a state-of-the-art spa at the award-winning Coniston Hotel in Skipton.
The contract involved a 16,500 sqft extension to the existing family-owned hotel, set in 1400 acres of beautiful countryside. The hotel and its grounds form part of the Coniston Estate, which has been home to the Bannister family for more than 40 years.
The new spa’s facilities include a 15m swimming pool, thermal suite, gym, dance studio, spa treatments, relaxation and dining areas, and an outdoor spa pool and terrace.
PWA undertook Ground investigations to determine the most cost-effective foundation solutions which were subsequently designed by our structural team inclusive of the swimming pool structures, foundations, and ground floor slabs. Drainage was designed as a SuDs system discharging via a reed bed to the nearby watercourse. This included a full treatment train for the swimming pool cleaning regime which required close collaboration between the main contractors, pool designers, and the Environment Agency.
