Our involvement in this project started at the concept stage, PWA undertook Flood risk assessment and Geo-Environmental appraisals to determine the site risks. Working with BFC, Campbell Driver Architects, and Ecology consultants amongst others PWA developed a wildflower ecology corridor considering overland flow routes from off-site sources, enhancing the habitat and ensuring the post-development site catered for both the training facilities and the local ecology. External works and drainage were designed using SuDs throughout to mitigate the flood risk and enhance habitat whilst ensuring the highest quality playing surfaces. River bank stabilisation works were undertaken in close liaison with the environment agency ensuring that flood risk was managed. The Barnfield Training Centre consists of a development of a 73,000 m2 area and a brand new dedicated training centre, bringing first-class facilities for the first team, development squad, and youth team players under one roof for the first time.
