Springfield Medical Centre
A major refurbishment to an existing church to create a 2-storey, 6 room GP medical centre (and attached 100-hour pharmacy) which achieves a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The design team underwent multiple BREEAM centred meetings to develop the proposals, carefully considering materials and services without over-expending the client’s budget requirements. Structural inspections were initially undertaken to determine if there were any existing defects and to understand load paths and stability mechanisms to allow PWA to work with the Architect in developing the plan proposals in such a way that would fit the client’s overall budget. Following this stage of design development, PWA designed the alterations and additions to the existing building to transform it into what it is today.
