A geotechnical appraisal identified that pad and strip foundations could be adopted on this site, with the structure extending to 4 stories the design and build contractor was provided with cost-option alternatives to determine the most cost-effective design solutions prior to PWA undertaking the full detailed design, the resultant pad and strip design with suspended floors was adopted with all arisings from the excavations calculated to ensure a cut / full balance was achievable maximizing the potential for the site and ensuring cost-effective delivery.
