“Not wanting to settle for the mundane, we pushed the budget as far as it would possibly go to form the Learning Link, which became so much more than a corridor. The space created is now used for all manner of events, displays and small group learning, but perhaps more crucially, it has enabled the school to open up its timetable, creating a flow of pupils between their class spaces which would have been impossible prior to the creation of the link” (Halliday Clark Architects)

PWA undertook intrusive investigations to determine the ground conditions to ensure settlements and impact from trees were accounted for along with an understanding of the bearing capacities and the ground gas risk. Following from this our civil and structural teams progress the detailed design including below-ground drainage, levels and structural design including the superstructure steel and glulam frames. This needed to stand alone whilst also fitting seamlessly into the existing surrounding structures. The project continues to be a great success and will assist in the development of future generations to come.
